New Moon Sister Circle

6/24/2022

Picture
Join Marisa Joan and me as we gather in sisterhood to celebrate the new moon, a time of beginnings to reflect, release, and set intentions. Expect herbal tea, cleansing breath work, journaling, yoga nidra, and the magic of sisterhood.

Our intention is to create a safe space for women to gather, connect, and support one another along side the cyclical nature of the moon cycle. Each gathering will have coordinating themes and activities to connect you to the astrological aspects of the moon.

Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation”. It is practiced lying down so that you may get comfortable and draw your attention inwards, drift between the states of wakefulness and sleep, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and you fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness.

What To Bring
Bring a yoga mat, blanket, pillow, journal and anything else you need to feel comfortable (laying on the Earth outside) or would like to infuse with the energy of the new moon.

Where
We will be gathering in the forest behind the homes on Meadow Estates Drive. There is open parking on the left side of the complex when you drive in. After parking, walk to the right side of the complex to #105 where we will meet and walk down the hill together. We'll be gathering in the circle.

Summer Series Details & Pricing
Mark your calendar to join us for this summer's New Moon Sister Circles June 29, July 27 and August 27. Ticket prices are on a sliding scale from $20-35 so that you may pay what you are able or join us for all three circles for $55.

Women of all ages are welcome, including babies and children.

Spring Rituals, Cycle-Syncing & Sedona

Happy day, last day of winter, energy rising!! So much has been shifting in our world, our ability to ride the waves has been tested, and yet here we are: resilient, strong, and continuously evolving. The only constant is change, right?!

I uprooted from my long time home in Austin to give my soul more space to breathe and explore amongst the mountains of Colorado's Western Slope. It wasn't the easiest transition mid-Covid winter, but the more I get quiet and connect with the nature and beauty around me, everything in me says "Yes."

Four Phases & Cycle-Syncing

I've always sought closer connection to nature, her cycles, her seasons, and the elements. I've also found deeper meaning and healing within my own cycles. Educating myself about the cycle of my energy and hormones has been so healing. As a self proclaimed "movement junkie," I will go-go-go to my own detriment. After burning out physically and energetically, suffering injury, fatigue, chronic pain, and hormonal imbalances - I've finally learned to listen to the innate wisdom of my body. And oh, what a difference it has made!

Did you know that - until now - most women have been taught to exercise, eat, and live like a man, who has a 24-hour hormone cycle, instead of living in tune with our 28-day cycle? We are created equal, but we are not created the same. Educating myself on the female 28-day hormone cycle has changed my life in more ways than one.

Some of the shifts I have experienced since syncing my lifestyle, diet and workouts to my cycle:
  • I am no longer fatigued
  • I have a regular, nearly PMS-free period
  • No more hormonal skin breakouts or melasma
  • Little to no mood swings
  • Body is injury-free, healthy and stronger than ever at age 38
  • I have maintained lean muscle while working out less
  • Increased libido
  • Able to offer myself compassionate space to rest without criticism or guilt
  • Deeper connection to my body and her wisdom
I want to share this wisdom with you and all women - which is why I created Four Phases: cycle-synced wisdom, workouts, yoga and lifestyle for women. We deserve to be empowered and not shamed by our cycle. It is our superpower, not our burden to hide.

Leading up to the launch of Four Phases, I'm hosting a workshop "Cycle Syncing 101" to explain cycle-syncing basics. Learn why you should be cycle-syncing and simple lifestyle tips to balance hormones, achieve fitness goals, reduce PMS, support fertility, and increase libido. Workshop will be live via ZOOM Sunday, March 28th at 6pm CST.

Attendees will not only receive information to launch their cycle-syncing journey, but also access to the Four Phases membership platform at a reduced price AND a $300 discount off Wild + Free Sedona a yoga, hiking and healing retreat.

Spring Equinox Rituals

All this talk of cycles, we are finally closing out winter and moving full-force into Spring on Saturday, March 20th. Here are five rituals you may utilize to welcome the Spring Equinox:
  1. Greet The Sun: 108 Sun Salutations to welcome this "take action" season of growth. Practice alone or gather a group outside so you can to really connect to the sun and earth energy. Alternatively, you might chant 108 repetitions of a mantra using a mala to count. Most malas have 108 beads.
  2. Plant Some Seeds: Literally and figuratively. Start a little window garden or potted herbs. As you plant your seeds in the soil, also plant your intentions for this season of life. You could gather a few friends to do this together. Cycle-Sync to Spring, a time of growth, transformation, and taking intentional action. What ideas have been hibernating in your heart and mind over the winter? What are the first steps you can take to ring them to life?
  3. Spring Clean: Clean your house / closet / purse / car / pantry. Dedicate a day to cleaning out a part of your life that feels heavy, cluttered, chaotic, or burdened to make room for the new and intentional. Here is my favorite dietary cleanse I use to reset: CLEAN
  4. Get Your Vitamin N: Nature, it does a body good!! Get outside this weekend. Go for a hike or bike ride, take in the beauty, breeze, and buds (flowers, that is). You can also start to create ritual around getting outside everyday. Maybe a walk at the same time to break up your day and clear your mind.

Start this spring feeling super healthy & revitalized while also boosting your immune system! Join me for a healing journey to cleanse, detoxify, strengthen your body, and even shed a pound... or ten. I've completed this cleanse several times, and loved it so much I want to share it with you. I believe 100% in the quality and potency of Purium's organic, non-GMO, vegan products, and no one can dispute the power of eating an organic plant based diet!

The 30-day program is an all organic, vegan, whole foods based transformation. It's designed to help you reset and detoxify, feel more energized, clear your mind, and lose weight while flooding your body with nutrients and supporting your immune system. I noticed my skin clear, energy levels maintained consistent, mood and mental clarity was improved, and I gained more lean muscle as I continued to practice yoga or workout everyday.

Take a break from processed, genetically modified foods, and cleanse your body of harmful chemicals and toxins. The daily shakes, supplements, and whole foods will nourish your body with nutrients and help break addictions to sugar, salt, carbs, and chemicals. This complete, easy-to-follow program can change the trajectory of your health. If you are seeking to reset and change your diet to a healthier more plant based lifestyle this is the way to go!

You will receive regular emails from me with recipes, information, support, and encouragement to help you stay inspired and motivated to continue on track during the cleanse. This program is completely customizable to your needs, goals, and budget. I am here to help you create the program that support you best!

Save $100 with my referral code "WILDACORNWELLNESS"
Kit Includes:
  • Apple Berry Power Shake - Organic, Gluten Free, Vegan, 2 g of sugar per serving this delicious nutrient dense shake will keep you going strong for 10 or 30 days depending on which program you choose!
  • Super Amino 23 - Highly digestible vegan protein aids in normalizing protein synthesis, muscle recovery, strength, and endurance.
  • Super CleansR - Proper cleansing occurs with the body eliminates toxins effectively. Ingredients like Black Walnut Hull, Marshmallow Root, Clove, Wormwood, Amalaki, Cascara Sagrada Bark, and Senna Leaf improve peristaltic action, digestion, and elimination.
  • Biome Medic - Protect your gut from GMOs with this herbal formula of all-natural ingredients. This product helps flush harmful toxins, support “good” bacteria and repair your micro biome and remove toxic glyphosate, better known as Round Up. Glyphosate destroys your gut micro biome which is responsible for 70% our immune function. The gut micro biome also produces serotonin the "happy hormone" preventing depression, and takes all the good nutrients and removes the toxins from the food we eat. Removing glyphosate from your body is essential in optimizing your health.
  • Apothe-Cherry Juice - Tart cherries contain a wide variety of unique antioxidants and phytochemicals like melatonin, which can help balance circadian rhythms for proper sleep. It may also support healthy joint function and promote healthy uric acid metabolism. Excess uric acid can cause gout, arthritis, and kidney stones.

But do I get to eat?

Yes! In addition to the shakes and supplements, you can also make meals and snack on flex foods like: avocado, apple , watermelon, celery, cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, spinach, berries, sauerkraut, kimchi, summer squash, carrots, and so much more!

M.D. Herbalist and midwife, Dr. Aviva Romm says, "Real, fresh foods activate your self healing capacities. Your body has an amazing capacity for self repair, which you can look younger and feel more energized." Although it is not mandatory to eat completely plant based, it is highly encourage and is the perfect opportunity to experience how good you can actually feel. "Food is not just calories, it is information. It talks to your DNA and tells it what to do. The most powerful tool to change your health, environment, and the entire world is your fork." - Dr. Mark Hyman

Who Am I?

3/6/2019

Written as an assignment for my 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training @ Del Sol Yoga, September 17, 2018

Over the course of my short time on this Earth I have taken on many persona, worn many hats, incarnated into different professions, borne many burdens, and hidden behind many guises. I might rightly associate who I am with any of these masks. But in simplistic terms, my understanding of who I am now can be summed up in the same way as I would describe all of humanity. Through the understanding of the collective consciousness, we are all one, and thus “I am a drop of Divine Consciousness embodied in physical form abiding in time and space until the tangible vessel of my body expires.” A wave of love, light, and potential energy rippling through the ocean of life.
Picture
I could cling to a story, to my past, to the “motherless daughter,” to “the rock” my father might describe, “the strong sister” my brothers call upon, “the gypsy” my extended family sees, “the free spirit” my friends love, or “the independent entrepreneur, yogi, and wellness advocate”  portrayed on social media. And to a certain extent, I embody all these characters. But truly I have the freedom to continually reincarnate, redefine, connect ever more deeply to my Divine Infinite nature, and disconnect from the story. In doing so, I can liberate my being from the constraints of who people say I am or who I might limit myself to be.

As a child, I was mommy’s little girl, shy, quiet, and sensitive. When my mother committed suicide I vividly remember the day I went back to high school just three days later, deciding I would not “be one of those kids who loses it or goes off the deep end due to a hardship.” I decided I would rise above it, make her proud, and continue to live the life she never got to experience fully. It was at that point my life drastically started to change, albeit with many detours, falls and challenges. At 14 years old, I didn’t realize the power and magnitude of that decision, but it definitely shifted the course of my life. Looking back it was the day I started to claim and own my innate power to heal, to question, to connect, and live the yoga (even though I'd never even taken a yoga class at the time). I might guess that unconsciously, it was Spirit or my true soul nature stepping in at a time when my family and I needed it most. There is very little I remember from that time, but that moment is still so vivid.

Picture
I believe I came into this life to be Love, to do the work of transmuting and transforming my story into one that might inspire others so that I may be of service to the greater good of all. Through all the trials and heartbreaks the main thing I have learned is to value and love myself just as I am without attachment to another person, job, relationship, social status, or income. To not let these things define me or restrain me has been a challenge and a constant lesson in just being, not doing. To know my worth, so that I may continually show up first for myself and then for others and hold space as a teacher, healer, and friend is my gift and ultimate privilege. With the understanding that it’s not me doing the real work - it is the Divine which lives within and connects us all. And when we allow that light to shine through us we can change the world.

Ram Dass summed it up perfectly. "You are loved just for being who you are, just for existing. You don’t have to do anything to earn it. Your shortcomings, your lack of self-esteem, physical perfection, or social and economic success – none of that matters. No one can take this love away from you, and it will always be here."

I am love.

Say Hello To DHARA, VAYU & SURYA

It's happening! Wild Acorn Apothecary has launched, and these beautiful essential oil blends that I have loved and used for so long as my own are now available to you too. This past weekend I debuted three Ayurvedic dosha balancing perfumes and body oils. If you haven't read my last post on Ayurveda and doshas you may want to start there to learn more.

In a nut shell, Ayurveda or the "Science of Life" is recognized by many scholars as the world's oldest healing modality. Foundational to Ayurveda are the three energies or "Doshas" including vata, pitta, and kapha. These doshas are composed of the five elements: Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. In the physical body, vata is the subtle energy of movement, pitta the energy of digestion and metabolism, and kapha the energy that forms the body’s structure. Everyone has a unique blend of these three doshas and Ayurveda helps to foster balance of mind, body and consciousness through its principles.

With that understanding, I'd like to introduce you to DHARA, VAYU, and SURYA. These blends have been mindfully formulated to promote the balance of your predominant dosha. But can also be used and enjoyed for the sole purpose of they just smell so good - and happen to also be good for you! Based in 100% organic jojoba oil, they are suitable as a perfume, aromatherapy, skin conditioner, hair/beard oil, and may also be used for their therapeutic benefits. For example, when out of balance the flighty cold-natured Vata may be soothed and comforted by the warm grounding botanicals of DHARA. Read on to learn more about each blend...

Scent Profiles

DHARA blends essential oils of Sandalwood, Palo Santo, Chamomile, Vetiver Oil, Cedarwood, Sweet Basil, and Sweet Orange in organic jojoba oil to create a strong sense of grounding and warmth for the winds and movement of vata. DHARA, meaning Earth, aims to give you a sense of calm and connection to Mother Earth.

VAYU blends Sandalwood, Lavender, Vetiver, Chamomile, Geranium, and Peppermint essential oils in organic jojoba oil to calm and soothe the nervous system and promote relation. VAYU, meaning Wind, aims to cool pitta when overheated physically, mentally, and emotionally.

SURYA blends Cedarwood, Palo Santo, Frankincense, Sweet Orange, Sweet Basil, and Bergamot  essential oils in organic jojoba oil to uplift, inspire and refresh the heaviness in mind, body, or spirit of kapha. SURYA, meaning Sun, is formulated to warm and invigorate any stagnant energy.

All three blends are available in a 10 mL perfume roller for $22 and a 30 mL / 1 fl oz body oil for $28.
